History

Oraukura 3 Incorporation was established in 1947. At that time, milling of lands between Taumarunui and Turangi was in progress, but it was not until the 1960s that Oraukura land was milled. Then in the 1970s, the Oraukura land was converted into a farm, with assistance from the Department of Maori Affairs. Oraukura Station spans 1,115 hectares, of which 1,084 hectares is effective farm area. Nestled between Mount Ruapehu and Lake Taupo, and 30km north west of Turangi, the station carries an average of 12,000 stock units; mainly deer, beef and sheep. On 1 February 2010, Oraukura formed a limited partnership with Puketapu 3A Incorporation. The farm activities of both Incorporations are now governed and managed through Tuatahi Farming (2010) Limited Partnership.
